CONFIRM ROBERTS!

"The hardest tumble a man can make is to fall over his own bluff." --Ambrose Bierce

Judge John Roberts is apparently a good man and an honest fair jurist. However, according to the usual suspects on the left, notwithstanding protestations to the contrary, he is about to get Borked.

It is beyond curious that the rabid, mean-spirited, partisan, liberal dems havent yet gotten hip to the empirical fact that their egregious misconduct is going to bite them in the butt.

The mere perception that Roberts is a conservative and a Republican apparently are sufficient to disqualify him from ANY consideration by the partisan flacks and nattering nabobs.

When first nominated the left was sucker-punched.

  • They tried a probing attack on his wifes pro-life volunteerism.
  • They reportedly conspired with the NY Times to investigate the adoption of his two children.
  • They even groused about how the kids were dressed?
  • They were short-sheeted when it was revealed he actually performed lawyerly tasks for gay clients.

What to do, what to do?

Shut up! Sit down! And confirm the man..

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, calling for simple decency (which presumes facts not necessarily in evidence) demanded the DNC symbiotic journalists chill. "Some boundaries should be placed on inquiries into the private lives of public figures," said Hutchison. This from a woman who faced some uncomfortable questions when she adopted her son and daughter four years ago.

In the wake of the Drudge Report outing the New York Times inquiry into Robertss children, the Gray Lady moved like a chess knight in reverse.

Our reporters made initial inquiries about the adoptions, as they did about many other aspects of his background. They did so with great care, understanding the sensitivity of the issue," said Times spokesman Toby Usnik. "We have not pursued the issue after the initial inquiries, which detected nothing irregular about the adoptions."

Despite blogger claims they had consulted lawyers about trying to unseal the adoption records. Usnik said the paper dropped the matter after learning that the records were sealed. Yeah, right!

More likely, they dropped the matter when they were outed by Drudge and the inimitable smarminess of their conduct was revealed. Another minor victory for New Media in keeping the Main Stream Media from unchecked abuse of power.

Hutchison called the newspaper's actions "reprehensible," but she is guilty of understatement.

Kay, simple decency is an anachronistic anomaly to the vitriolic partisan scum.

Ken Mehlman, Chairman of the RNC says some Dems and libs want to turn "a judicial confirmation into a political campaign". Duh?!?!

Hey it has worked for them before (and arguably so far). The ongoing stonewalling in the Judiciary Committee exceeds even the contemptible standard of the liberal mob of usual suspects. Just wait until Rehnquist finally announces his retirementthe Bob Novak slang for bovine excrement is REALLY going to hit the fan.

Mehlman tried to argue that back in 1993, Ruth Bader Ginzburg, (a judge with for real liberal bona fides) was treated fairly despite her refusal to answer a bunch of specific questions. He said, "I believe Judge Roberts has the right to expect the same treatment, and the same swift confirmation."

Roberts deserves similar treatment but dont count it.

What is both amazing and daunting is that the Dems seem incapable of recognizing the potential for humongous negative consequences of picking at scabs.

  • Democrat Presidential wannabe Sen. Evan Bayh has said his party lacks credibility.
  • Democrat pollster Stan Greenberg says one of the biggest doubts about Democrats is that they dont stand for anything.

It is flat out counter-intuitive for the strident partisans to continue their self destructive tactics of Bush badDems good unless or until they can actually come up with something palpable to voters that demonstrates WHY they are good. Plato once said, Those who are too smart to enter into politics will be governed by those who are not.

And by the waywhy in the world do suicidal democrats continue to even listen to Ted Kennedy www.ytedk.com The man is a perpetual embarrassment and waste of a significant amount of skin.

Over a year ago I wrote, The strident, venal and petty screeds which have become the mantra of the left may be red meat to the hardcore 60s leftover anachronisms maintaining the base of the Democratsbut that dog aint gonna hunt come November.and you know whatit didnt.

Roberts is a good man and a good judge. Confirm him!
