A HEADACHE TO THE POWERS OF DARKNESS

“Coach, I bet that when you get up in the morning the Devil takes some Tylenol.”

That is what my friend Tom said to me one day. I am proud of that. I pray that I am a headache to the powers of darkness.

How about you? Is that the attitude you face each day with? Do you awaken in the morning and plot what you can do to advance the Kingdom of God? Or do you cower in your prayer closet begging the Lord to keep the enemy away from you?

I know the answer to that question. And so do you. Most Christians would rather hide from the devil than fight him. The last thing the average Christian man wants to do is pick a fight with evil. That wouldn’t be very Christian, now would it?

What is it you hear from the football commentators all of the time…"The best defense is a good offense." For the most part, the church doesn’t even have an offensive playbook anymore. No wonder we are letting the forces of evil score so many points. The devil’s arm is sore from spiking the football…

I wanna kick their butt. The devil and his minions I am referring to. I wanna push their faces in the mud. I want to bloody their nose and point them to Jesus for treatment.

I don’t wanna coddle them, and tell them how much Jesus loves them. I wanna bury them and their evil playbook. I wanna run right over the top of them. I wanna do to them what David did to the uncircumcised Philistine. I wanna feed their flesh to the fowls of the air.

The Lord has enemies, you know. Sorry to have to burst the church-bubble you live in, but the Lord also hates some things. Try this on for size.

“For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. Psalm 5:4-6

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” Prov. 6:16-19

God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. Psalm 7:11

Yep. God hates some things. He doesn’t “hate the sin and love the sinner.” You won’t find that anywhere in the Bible. Here is a list of 43 things the Lord hates. Chew on that awhile.

Hold on to your seat. God hates sin! But He also hates those who practice sin. You cannot separate the sin from the sinner. It is the sinner that gets cast into the lake of fire…not the sin.

Jacob I have loved, Esau I have hated! Romans 9:13 (Sorry folks. Just quoting the Word.)

Come on now! If God didn’t hate some things why did His Son have to die?

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. I John 3:8

If God wanted to destroy the works of the devil, (sin) why shouldn’t I? I am a soldier of the cross!! I stand for Him. I speak for Him. I fight for Him. I must be willing to die for Him.

But there is the rub. We love our lives too much. We are afraid of what the evil forces might do. We are afraid of what total commitment to the Lord might cost us. We are not sure that we are willing to pay that price…

The American-Christian Church has developed an escapist mentality. We are not willing to fight because we have become convinced that the Lord is going to rescue us out of this mess. Flight or fight is the choice that lies before us. Most Christians have chosen the safe route.

Most pastors see the Gospel only as a salvation issue, not a Kingdom issue. The idea that Jesus wants us to engage the enemy in the battle for Truth is anathema to most church-leaders.

I hear you. “Coach, Jesus said His Kingdom was not of this world.” Jesus said that his Kingdom was not an “earthly” Kingdom; He didn’t say we should relinquish the earth to Satan.

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Mathew 28:18-20

The devil should not be ruling this world! Jesus destroyed the power of the enemy at Calvary. He ushered in a new Spiritual Kingdom that is available to the believer here and now…”Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done in Earth as it is in Heaven. This invisible Spiritual Kingdom gives Christians authority over the forces of darkness. The forces of darkness are spiritual as well and their fruit shows up in the natural world. It is those spiritual forces that we are to wrestle with. The Bible tells us that they dwell in “high places.”

Some will call my position “dominionist”, writing me off as a heretic. His Kingdom is not OF this world, but it has dominion OVER this world. Jesus is Lord of all!!

“The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.” Eph. 1

All things are under His feet! He has made the earth his footstool!!

Everything is under his power. And that includes the forces of darkness. The earth does not belong to the devil!!! Jesus reclaimed the authority over this world at the Cross. Satan has power and influence over non-believers, but he has no power over the believer!!

Unfortunately, non-believers are currently in authority in America. The church has yielded the power to The Evil One through submission while they aimlessly seek “purpose” and their “best life now.”

The Lord established a new kingdom but His soldiers will not fight to establish His Kingdom Principles in the earth.

The Bible is Book of victory. It is not a Book of defeat. The Gospel is the story of a Conquering King, not a submit-to-the devil Savior. Jesus is the ultimate authority…at the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow…and that includes here and now. Jesus is the victor NOW…not just at the end of the Book.

The devil doesn’t scare me. Jesus lives inside me.

Politics will not win this battle, but politics is a weapon in the battle. Separating religion from politics results in the removing of Kingdom Principles from the culture. If the devil’s kids are the one’s making all of the rules do you expect good things to happen?

Our failure to confront evil in the culture has lead to misery for God’s people.

“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Eph 5:11

You see, pointing out the unfruitful works of darkness pounds knots on the devil’s head and brings liberty to God’s people.

Quit hiding in the back of the bus. Know the Truth. Obey the Truth. Speak the Truth. Stop cowering in fear inside your stained glassed fortress. Let’s take the fight to the enemy! “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world!”

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.” Matt. 11:12

It is time to fight for Truth. Let’s give the devil and his kids a headache!
