Hypochondria—extreme depression of mind or spirits often centered on imaginary physical ailments.

Afro-chondria—extreme depression of mind or spirits often centered on imaginary social ailments.

So, because he is black all of the white people hate him. Is that we are supposed to believe? Even though millions of white Americans voted for Obama we are now fed media reports that white folks are against him because of his skin color.

I actually dislike the “white” side of him even more…and you won’t “you racist” me into an apology. I am sick and tired of seeing race used as an excuse for incompetence.

(I suppose it is right about here that I need to throw out the I-am-not-a-racist-disclaimer that the race-hustlers have made part of any discussion about Negroes in America…you do remember when they used to call them Negroes, don’t you? Well, I refuse to do it…even though the President is one of the few to whom the phrase “Afro” actually applies. It is the “American” part that I am having trouble with.)

I am sure some of you are very uncomfortable right now. That’s ok. You see, I am one of the few dinosaurs remaining in America who have not given over the use of the English language to the thought police. As any good umpire would tell you, I call them as I see them.

Others may see it differently, and they have the right to, but their version of the truth does not trump mine. America could use a little bit of honesty. If you can’t handle what I have to say, stop reading. Political correctness is nothing more than lying and I will not be part of it. I shoot straight. Get out of the line of fire….or learn to duck.

It is time to stop making excuses for “oppressed” blacks. The President of the United States is black. There are more posters of black athletes hanging on the walls of suburban white kids in America than there are pictures of white guys adorning the walls of black kids in the ghettos. Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Tony Dungy, Reggie Bush, are heroes to white kids because of what they have accomplished, regardless of the color of their skin.

Upwards of ninety percent of blacks voted for a black man for President. Doesn’t that have a tinge of racism? If ninety percent of white voters had voted for the white guy the African wouldn’t be president. Somebody explain to me how racism has held Obama back.

Isn’t labeling the Tea Party as “racist” stereotyping? I thought that was a bad thing. Heck, we can’t even call the terrorists “Muslim” anymore. Well this is one guy who has had enough of it.

By the way, did anyone check on how many white guys went to Al Sharpton’s rally?

So, I would like to introduce a new phrase into the American lexicon today.

AFRO-CHONDRIA--the belief that anything bad that happens to a black American is a result of the color of the skin.

I love sports. It is the one place where the law of the jungle truly holds sway. Survival of the fittest is the honor code on the athletic field. In fact, if we will be honest, ALL races believe that
Negroes are better athletes. The sheer statistical numbers bear that out.

84% of NBA players are black. 40% of the coaches are black.
72% of the NFL is black.
Only 10% of MLB is black, but blacks only make up 13% of America.

Where is white affirmative action in sports? I’d love to be raking in all of that NBA money. But I can’t…not because of my skin color…but because I can’t jump. Performance is expected on the athletic field, while “special favors” are expected off of it. One makes it in the NFL BECAUSE of his race, while race is somehow a handicap off of the field.

Obama’s performance stinks. Who cares what color he is, unless of course, you are an Afro-Chondriac who would argue that his performance is great but our perception of it is influenced because we are racists. Poor guy. It is obvious that black guys can’t make it in America. (You listening LeBron?)

A few years ago I had a young man on my football team try and pull that Afro-Chrondria on me when I put his butt on the bench.

“You’re just benching me because I am black.” He whined in front of all of his teammates.

“Nope. I am benching you because you are lazy. You’re stuck with your skin color, but you don’t have to stay lazy. If you keep hiding behind your skin color you’ll never make it back on the field.”

No player ever played the race card on me again.

Wake up folks. Racism is dead. Oh, there are little pockets of it here and there, but the greatest wave of racism can be found in the black community. Being a racist is socially acceptable in the black community. Can you even imagine the ridicule that would ensue if John McCain had blamed his defeat on his race? “I lost because my white heritage has conditioned me to compromise my beliefs so that others will accept me.”

Euro-Chondria is not accepted as a legitimate disorder. Only blacks can blame their difficulties on their skin color.

(Isn’t it refreshing to hear some speak the Truth?)

I love black people…oops…I love people…even black ones. I have coached some remarkable young black men in my life. Not one of the great one’s ever made an excuse. They accepted the fact that most blacks liked blacks better than whites and that most whites liked whites better than blacks.

But the sooner the realized that it was a cultural thing, and not a racial thing, the more effectively they learned to compete in the entire human experience.

Today, some are lawyers, some are teachers, and some are unemployed. Just like their white teammates.

After a crunching tackle during one of the biggest football games in my coaching career our tailback lay prone on the field, unable to rise to his feet. The medical staff ran to his aide as I slowly walked to the scene of the collision. As the trainer’s checked his appendages I leaned over and looked into his sweat-stained brown face and asked:

“Anthony, are you injured or merely hurt? If you are injured let’s get you off of the field. If you are only hurt, we need you in the huddle…”

Five plays later he pounded the ball into the end zone from the one and secured the victory.

Afro-Chondria is one of the greatest obstacles that black-Americans face. Playing along with their imaginary illness may make one seem more compassionate, but it still leaves the patient feeling sick and dependant.

One hundred and forty-five years after the Civil War, seven out of ten black children are born into a family without a father, only 55% will graduate from high school, and 10% of all young black males are in prison.

It is time to stop perpetuating the big lie. Blaming the Boogie Man of white racism never forces one to deal with the real problem.

"I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." --Benjamin Franklin
