The tragedy in San Bernardino last week is on the hearts of Americans in spite of the wicked response of the New York Daily News. “Splashed with contempt across the front cover of the New York Daily News were the messages of several Republicans, whose natural reaction to tragedy was to turn where men since the first Continental Congress had -- to God. "Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and the first responders in San Bernardino," Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) had tweeted. "Please keep the victims of #SanBernardino in your prayers," Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) urged.”[1]
In bold text, the News's cover vomited back, "GOD ISN'T FIXING THIS.” “New details of the 14 dead are emerging, and there are some heartbreaking ironies, as well as stories of heroism and courage. For example, Bennetta Betbadal, 46, was a Catholic who fled Islamic extremism in Iran, only to be killed by an Islamic extremist in the United States.”[2] But is it extremism?

Is it not just true Mohammedan faithfulness to the actual text of the Koran? Many who knew Farook, who worked beside him for years, even those of his own family expressed shock with his murderous attack. But looking at the facts, “Farook’s apparent online dating pitch, via Breitbart News’ Neil Munro, emphasized his simple, ‘pious’ lifestyle: ..I was born and raised in the US… I have a pretty simply lifestyle. I spend much of my free time …memorizing the quran and learning more about the religion. I don’t really watch much TV or movies…. I am looking for a practicing muslimah. Someone who takes her religion very seriously and is always trying to improve her religion and encouraging others to do the same…”[3]
Who does this evil? Jesus clearly tells us, the followers of Satan. In John 8:44 Jesus says, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.” What appears to me is that we have an account of a faithful Mohammedan simply following what the Koran told him to do, go kill people celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ -- the Messiah -- at his own office Christmas party.[4]
The left tells us it is all about gun control. God’s Word tells us it is about the heart of man that is so desperately wicked who can know it. Apart from the transforming operation of the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ the human heart is filled with all kinds of murderous evil. Sadly, the tragedy is that no one but the murderers were armed at that Christmas party, for an armed man or woman could cut short that murderous onslaught. The heart of crime is in the hearts of men, men who reject God’s Word, God’s Law and God’s Son our Lord Jesus Christ. When a man declares, as Farook and his wife did, that they will not have Jesus Christ rule over them, then any type of evil can proceed from that depraved heart. Evil even that shocks those who knew him well.
Consider another category of crimes, property crimes. The FBI reports, “In 2012, there were an estimated 8,975,438 property crime offenses in the nation… In 2012, the rate of property crime was estimated at 2,859.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.”[5] What is it in the depraved heart of man that compels them to these criminal acts, acts of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson? The Basis of Property itself to understand what enters the depraved heart to violate the God given right to own property - Genesis 1:26-28; 2:15, 19-20 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
God created all things and therefore God owns it all. Indeed, Psalm 24:1 proclaims “The earth is the Lord 's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” I think it is useful to note that God gave property ownership to Family governments. Today, be grateful for what the Lord has blessed you with.
