THE NIGHTMARE GOSPEL

“We shall be as gods.” Where have we heard that one before?

What we really want is to be able to do anything we please without it blowing up in our faces. You’d think that would be impossible. But the rulers of the darkness of this world are always selling the impossible, and there are always takers.

God is the Creator. If we want to take His place, we have to replace His Creation with a creation of our own.

Impossible? Heck, no! Just check out a few of our current events, and you’ll see god and goddess wannabes creating their own versions of reality. Any fool can do it—and no one but a fool would want to.

Exhibit A: Saying that the great dream and aspiration of her life was to be blind, a young woman with two perfectly good eyes has made herself blind. How? She found an ethics-free moral imbecile of a “psychologist” to numb her eyes and then drip drain cleaner (!) into them until they were shot.

You see, this perverse young woman said she had always “felt”—who needs anything but feelings?—that she was “supposed to be” blind all along. God who created her made a mistake, giving her good eyes. And so, like any good humanist, she corrected God’s mistake.

I wonder what Jesus Christ would have said if she’d come up to Him and asked Him to take away her sight and make her blind. Imagine a New Testament in which Jesus goes all around Judea giving people leprosy, paralysis, or chronic bleeding, and, instead of casting out demons, installing them. But this is the gospel of this evil age.

Best of all, our depraved humanism takes away the sting of such labels as “perverted” or “insane” and makes it all nice and normal and acceptable by giving it another name—in this case, “Body Integrity Identity Disorder,” BIID for short: easily corrected with a tablespoonful of Dran-O.

We have noted this before, with people demanding—and getting—the amputation of perfectly sound and healthy limbs because, again, God made a mistake by failing to create them with a disability. The wisdom of this fallen world is rapidly coming around to the position that there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be disabled, and doing something about it.

Even the pagans of the ancient world knew better: this was an indecency beyond their reach. That’s why the first rule of the Hippocratic Oath, which physicians once upon a time took seriously, was “First do no harm.”

It says something about our world today that normal-ness and decency sound more and more like fairy tales.

When we’re not making war against our own bodies—see the “transgender” movement—we’re busy endowing inanimate objects with motives and objectives of their own. Hence our problem is not with homicidal maniacs, but simply with the guns with which they shoot their victims.

We saw an extreme example of this just last weekend, when, at a motor show in Malta, a Porsche Spyder barreled into the crowd and ran over a bunch of spectators. The way the Associated Press wrote up the news report, the car itself “lost control” and “was driving at high speed” when it went “careening into the barriers and crowd.” The AP did mention, almost as an afterthought, that “the driver” himself was injured, too.

Bad car! Wicked car! What was it thinking, as it passed a sleepless night in the garage? “Tomorrow I’m gonna kill a lot of people!” Good thing it wasn’t able to get together with a couple of guns and plan a really gaudy massacre.

The Bible tells us, in Psalm 100, “It is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves.” Well, who believes that, anymore? We re-make ourselves! Thus the new, improved Bruce Jenner, with every single one of the cells in his body still male, carrying an XY chromosome, whom we must now confess to be a “woman,” or else suffer the consequences of being branded a “hater” and a “homophobe.”

It’s never enough for humanists just to go and do something unnatural and grotesque. Everybody else has to be shanghaied into their new reality. Ooh, ooh! She had Body Integrity Identity Disorder, but now it’s fixed—she’s blind! Pony up your tax money, folks, because now she’s gonna need assorted government assistance programs to get through the day, and you’re gonna pay for ‘em. Meanwhile, you’ll have to confess that “gay marriage” is real marriage, and if you don’t take an active part in a “gay wedding” when it’s demanded of you, the government will crush you and destroy your livelihood.

This is Golden Calf-worship with a vengeance—dance around the idol, or else.

As Thomas Jefferson once said, “I tremble for my country, when I reflect that God is just.”

We should all be trembling, these days.
