It’s getting harder and harder to tell the difference between the news and a horror movie.
A random peek at the front page of the Drudge Report, a few days ago, yielded the following gems.
“A disgruntled employee” hijacked a train. That could have turned out very badly for a lot of people.
In a Los Angeles neighborhood, kooks dressed up as clowns and brandishing weapons are going around scaring people. Police caught a teenager who says he was doing it “because I saw it on the Internet.”
A bus ran over and killed two men while they were engaged in a “paintball zombie shoot.”
Remember last month’s Scottish independence vote? One of the major issues was the UK Parliament’s announced intention to make cuts in the National Health Service because it’s running out of money—cuts vigorously opposed by Scottish Nationalists.
Well, you may not be able to get treatment in Britain for chronic back pain or a toothache: but when it comes to chopping off a man’s willie and shooting him full of hormones so he can say he’s a “woman”—for that they’ve got the money, even when the woman wannabe is 81 years old. No Liverpool Care Pathway for that patient!
What, horror fans in America? You never heard of the Liverpool Care Pathway? Don’t worry, it’s been done away with—so they say. Can’t have that kind of scandal in the papers every day. But just to bring you up to speed, this was a National Health policy of deliberately withholding food, water, medicine, and ordinary care from elderly hospital patients till they died. There was a spot of trouble over that.
Oh—and teacher unions in Colorado are upset because their members won’t be allowed to sit on school boards anymore and vote themselves big raises. They have the chutzpah to enlist students in their protests—kids carrying signs that read “Educate, don’t indoctrinate!” Wow. It takes my breath away.
Meanwhile, as the Islamic State carries on its conquest of the Middle East, ignoring our totally ineffectual air strikes, our country’s Glorious, All-Wise Leaders proclaim a new mission for the U.S. military, superseding such trifling concerns as securing our borders—makes you laugh, doesn’t it?—and defeating our enemies: to combat… wait for it… Climate Change! Fix bayonets. Charge! Show no mercy to that pesky Global Warming.
This list could go on until it stretched around the rings of Saturn, so let’s cut it short. The point is, these events are all symptoms of a slow (but growing faster and faster) collapse of a global humanist civilization that turns its back on God and looks to certified idiots for answers.
A lawless government breeds lawless people. A government that knowingly allows exotic and dangerous diseases, like Ebola, to be imported into the country is likely to breed… well, dead people.
We need not invoke omniscient, all-powerful conspiracies to explain the situation. Sin and mere stupidity account for it. Given a choice between blessing and cursing—the same choice God through Moses and all the other prophets offered Israel—our leaders, and the people they’ve dumbed down and debauched, choose the curses every time.
What good does it do to win elections—assuming we will ever win one again—if we continue to let the next generation be “educated” by frothing-at-the-mouth left-wing teacher unions, and socialized by violent video games, trashy movies, sleazy television, and even trashier “Young Adults Fiction” that celebrates every imaginable form of moral and physical perversion? But this is precisely what we’ve done for many years, and now we’ve begun to pay the price for it.
We have an opposition party that provides no opposition, and a ruling party fanatically dedicated to statism, rampant lawlessness in government, open borders, and pushing the sexual revolution as far as it can go—whose members booed God at their national convention. What good can come of this? We are governed by the criminally insane.
It’s getting late in the day for us to turn around and choose life instead of death, decency instead of sin, blessings instead of curses. You have to practically hold a gun to a conservative’s head to get him (or her) to admit that anything is wrong or sinful; and a liberal won’t even know what you’re talking about.
But God is not mocked; and the nation that tries to mock Him will perish from the earth.
