WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH?

I was raised in the 50’s and in those years the importance of telling the truth was paramount. In the 50’s a man’s word was still his bond. Many still worked on a handshake. No one would enter a contract today without pages of definitions, promises and deadlines. I believe that this is one of the problems we have in society today. We still like to take a person at his word and many do, to their detriment. Especially when that person is a politician.

Here in the State of Colorado we elected a Democrat governor in 2006, Bill Ritter. He was a ‘good Catholic’. His campaign ads said he was pro-life, pro-family. His first four bills were anti-life and anti-family. One bill required all hospitals to do abortions even those run by religious institutions that held that life was viable from conception. How could a ‘pro-life’ politician sign such a law? Simple. He lied about being pro-life.

He claimed in the campaign that he was pro-family but he signed into law SB 200. This law allows a mentally disturbed person who is physically a male to use a woman’s bathroom/shower facility if he happens to be feeling a little effeminate that day. If that wasn’t bad enough, it there was a woman in the bathroom/shower facility at the time and complained, she would be arrested not the pervert. How could a ‘pro-family’ politician sign such a law. Again, simple. He lied about being pro-family.

This condition is rampant in today’s politicians. Both parties have their liars but they seem to be very prominent in the Democrat party. In 2008 President Obama said that he didn’t support infanticide, but Illinois legislature records show that he voted for it three times. He stated during the campaign that he believed in the one man one woman marriage but he opposed California’s Proposition 8. He stated that no one making under $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes. The that figure got lowered two times to around $175,000 but the results of his policies all people are paying higher taxes, except for those that do pay any taxes anyway. How could he say one thing and do another? He lied. Plain and simple. He told American what it wanted to hear and then when he got elected he simply did what he wanted to do. He has not been able to get amnesty through Congress so he want to go around our constitutional system and initiate amnesty through an Executive Order.

All politicians, when elected to Federal office, swear to uphold the Constitution and all politicians, when elected to the State legislature or Executive office swear to uphold the constitution and laws of the State. Again, here in Colorado the Mayor of Denver, who is now our governor, refused to enforce SB 90 which makes sanctuary cities illegal in Colorado. He owns several restaurants in Denver and stated the he knew he had illegal’s working for him, but had no intention of doing anything about it. The result? One of his employees killed a Denver policeman. Another illegal got drunk and ran into a Baskin Robins killing two adults and one six year old boy. The worst thing about this incident is this drunken illegal had been arrested 19 times but never deported. Why? The Mayor swore to uphold the laws of the State of Colorado but didn’t. He lied.

All of our judges swear to uphold the laws of the land. Supreme Court justices are sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States. They are to adjudicate only the laws Congress passes according to our Constitution. Five of these jurists have used international laws and treaties to decide cases and openly state so. Sandra Day O’Connor proudly stated that they used an international treaty to overturn Texas’ sodomy law even though the United States hadn’t agreed to the treaty. Why? They lied about upholding the Constitution because they have an agenda that they want to forward.

The other aspect concerning our courts is the fact that they can only entertain cases concerning what Congress or the State legislatures pass and the President or Governor signs into law. Any legislation voted on by the people is not within the jurisdiction of the courts yet they decide these cases all the time. California’s Proposition 8 was passed by a vote of the people. No court has jurisdiction over that. Colorado has a similar case during the time when Roy Romer was our governor. Our State Supreme Court overturned that vote. They didn’t have jurisdiction, but they didn’t care.

These cases are doubly troubling because not only are the courts doing whatever they want to do, neither the Executive branch or the Legislative branch is holding the courts to their constitutional jurisdiction. The people who elect the politicians don’t seem to pay attention to the character of the people they elect. In New York Charlie Rangel was found guilty of evading taxes. This is inexcusable as he is on the Ways and Means committee. He wasn’t forced to resign and he was re-elected!

Most of the members of Obama’s cabinet were found to have not paid their taxes. NOTHING was done to them. It should have made them ineligible for the position they were nominated for. A regular citizen would have been fined and possibly jailed for what they did. But nothing. They even ended up with a high paying government job. Is truth not relevant anymore? Is being honest not worth the time and effort? Paul, in writing to the church in Corinth brought this up because it is important for our everyday dealings personally and in business. 2 Corinthians 8:21 “Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.” What we do will be seen by God as well as man. But even if man doesn’t see it God always will. What we do in secret He will reward in public. Matthew 6:4 “That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” This is doesn’t make a difference whether it is good or bad done in secret. Ecclesiastes 12:14 “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Cheating o taxes is nothing less than lying. Saying you will do one thing but you have no intention of doing it is lying. Saying what needs to be said to gain political office if you have no intention of keeping the promises, is lying.

Our politicians today have no moral character for the most part. Our Founders would not believe the character of persons we have in elected positions today. Open homosexuals, open affairs with pages and other staff members. This type of behavior was unheard of in the days of the Founders. One judge was removed from the bench simply because he got drunk – in his own home!

The fact that we no longer require our elected officials to be of good character is the cause of most of our problems. Proverbs 29:2 “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” If we have wicked people in authority over us it is because we put them there. If we have righteous people in authority over us it is because we put them there. We have no one to blame but ourselves for the men and women that rule over us. In the 2008 election only 25% of evangelicals voted. Had 50% voted we may not have the president that we have today and we may not have some of the corrupt Senators and Congressman that we have in office today. People like Barney Frank and Charlie Rangel would not be elected. Men and women of high moral character would occupy these offices and we would not have abortions being forced on the American people, laws would be enforced by the courts and the justice department instead of them picking and chosing which laws they will enforce as Obama and Holder are doing now.

Honest men and women do honest things. We have allowed the corrupt to get into office with lies but we don’t do anything to get them out. They apologize but continue to break promises. One State is launching a recall election on the members of Congress that voted for the NDAA bill that literally eliminates the 4th Amendment. 93 members of the Senate voted for that bill. All 93 should be recalled! How can they vote for a bill that blatantly violates our constitutional freedoms. Rep. Pete Stark of California stated on video that they pay no attention to the Constitution when they write a law. They ignore it! And we allow these people to stay in office. Our nation’s problems are because we no longer require people of good character to run for office. When we get back to requiring men and women of good character we will then begin to see an improvement in our nation. Until then we will continue down the path of destruction. Almost 70 members of Congress belong to the Democrat Socialists of America. Most are in the House of Representatives. All need to be removed because they are taking American down the path of socialism. The USSR could not survive socialism and no other nation has ever flourished under socialism but we continue to let them lie to us and we mumble but won’t do what is necessary to solve the problem.

The Founders acted according to scripture in deciding who they would elect. Exodus 18:21 “Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:” John Jay, first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, stated: "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." John Adams stated: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is of no value to any other.” Does it not make sense that it the Constitution was made for a moral and religious then should not moral and religious people be elected to public office? James Madison confirmed that when he stated: 'We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it.

We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for Self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to The Ten Commandments of God.' (Emphasis mine) Madison also stated: "The aim of every political constitution is, or ought to be, first to obtain for rulers men who possess most wisdom to discern, and most virtue to pursue, the common good of the society." Today’s Congress has exempted itself from most of the laws they pass. They can engage in insider trading, we go to jail if we do that. They have exempted themselves from Obamacare, but we must participate.

George Washington stated: “I am sure that never was a people, who had more reason to acknowledge a Divine interposition in their affairs, than those of the United States; and I should be pained to believe that they have forgotten that agency, which was so often manifested during our Revolution, or that they failed to consider the omnipotence of that God who is alone able to protect them.” (Emphasis mine)

Our future rests on our willingness to return to the foundation that established America. Truth, honest and the pursuit of good character and to govern ourselves according to the Ten Commandments. God tells us in the book of Proverbs 6:16-18 “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

(17) A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
(18) An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief.

Unfortunately most of today’s politicians fall into these categories. They lie, they promote abortion for any reason (shedding of innocent blood), they have a secret agenda (Agenda 21) to better themselves at our expense and the expense of America itself. Are we willing to continue to allow this behavior? Are we willing to stand up and be counted as one who will not let America fail? If we are not willing, then we will be a memory written about in the history books. The choice is ours.
