WILL AMERICA REPENT?

Paul Walter

The innocent lives that were lost in the suicide attack on the World Trade Center in New York is a  tragedy that will be remembered for a long time. This tragedy might not have happen if we had moral  leadership and a strong defense. Eight years of a Clinton administration's appeasement policy, selling high tech equipment to our enemies, downsizing the military, destroying our military personnel's morale by condoning homosexuality and Clinton airing out his genitals,  made us the laughing stock of the world. Most Americans, and the media, believe that Clinton's immorality shouldn't be anyone's business. They say "his personal life is his private affair...morals don't matter...he can still be a good president." They were wrong, morals do matter. If a President is unfaithful to his wife and family, he will be unfaithful to his nation. The Bible says "A good tree produces good fruit, a rotten tree produces rotten fruit."

Any tragedy can be turned around and good can come from it if lessons are learned. But, I'm afraid this will not occur. More tragedies and hard knocks have to happen before the stubborn pride begins to humble. Americans for the most part have abandoned God, not the other way around.  By now you're thinking this guy's crazy. How can I make such a statement when there are houses of worship around every corner across this nation. Precisely my point. Plenty of churches, plenty of worshippers, but no convictions and no resolve.  For the most part the religious establishments are run by angry, gutless, cowardly men and women that lick the boots of state and compromise with evil. Go along to get along, don't rock the boat or speak the truth because 'that's negative'.

Please forgive me for my honesty and bluntness, but for the most part haven't we brought this tragedy upon ourselves?  A nation of people that turn their backs on God cannot count on His protection or blessings. What do I mean by that? Simple. How many of you reading this support abortion, tolerate homosexuals adopting children sanctioned by church attending judges, and vote wimpy scoundrels into office that compromise your freedoms?

Oregon's Governor John Kitzhaber in August of 2001 signed a bill that will create an army of social workers coming into our homes to evaluate all first born, (read) passed by the weak compromised state legislators. Not a peep from the clergy, none. We are a nation of cowards and bullies, a materialistic society, lovers of pleasure and haters of good. Any wonder why God's blessings aren't upon us?

On September 14, 2001, at 7:00 P.M., there was a candle light vigil for the WTC victims in front of the Josephine County Courthouse in Grants Pass, Oregon. I arrived approximately one hour early. As the people started to arrive, I sat down with a couple of well dressed, middle aged women and started to converse. I said to one that this horror is the result of eight years of Clinton.  Compromising our nation's security by selling technology to our enemy, using American service personnel as bullies around the world for the New World Order and buddying up to Yasser Arafat.  To my dismay, she replied "you sure are vary negative ... I don't want to hear this." I replied, "lady, if we don't learn from our mistakes, we are doomed to repeat them."  As she got up and started walking away she replied, "you need to focus in on the positive...nobody wants to hear bad news". you mean, nobody wants to hear the truth, I replied back.

Approximately 700-1000 people, with their pastors, showed up for the candle light vigil to honor the dead. A couple of years ago Josephine County Sheriff's Deputy, Jerry B. Mathel, got caught peddling pictures and videos of child pornography. Oregon State Police recommended 30 years for the three offense, yet a local judge gave him only a slap on the wrist.  No jail time, no investigation to find the children, no candle light vigil, nothing. Only silence from the local clergy.

It proved to me that the people are not ready to face the harsh reality. They'd rather bury their heads in the sand, and hope that their problems go away. Israel faces terrorism on a daily basis from the radical Hisbullah, and yet, our government keeps insisting they should compromise and make peace with Arafat. Peace can never be achieved by compromising with evil. Never. President George Bush declared war on the terrorists; and so he should. But at the same time he demands that Israel compromise with them. Does this double standard make any sense?

On the front page of the September, 15, 2001, Grants Pass Daily Courier, a picture of Arabs marching down the street holding a banner appeared. What got my attention is the message that is on it. "Americans, think! Why you are hated all over the world"  I don't know if those were the good or bad Arabs. One thing is for sure, they don't teach little children that homosexuality is a alternate lifestyle in their public schools, give freedom of speech protection to smut, allow AIDS carriers to make their salad, support killing unborn babies, and they don't allow Child Services and police to steal children from innocent parents. We do, and are silent about it.

I honestly believe this was a warning. Unless this nation repents, turns away from it's wicked ways, returns to morals and seeks the Lord's forgiveness, more might follow.

As Americans we are facing the greatest danger and challenge since the foundation of this great republic. Anger and dealing with a faceless enemy, could result us turning in on each other, all in the name of political correctness. This would be the greatest triumph the enemy could hope for. Don't give the enemy satisfaction and victory. Repent, return to morals and embrace Christ's teaching, to 'love one another as He has loved us'.
