WE NEED TO KNOW WHO THE ALIENS ARE

Almost on a nightly basis I see some candidate for President or some other pundit saying, (In support of what's obviously an amnesty), "We need to know who is in this country. We can bring them (referring to illegal aliens) out of the shadows by issuing work visas. We'll then know who they are and they'll be paying taxes and contributing to society and our country will be more secure by knowing who they are and who is here."

We are at war. We are at war with Islam. None our leaders want to admit that. They don't even want to properly identify the enemy. Any true Muslim follows the Koran and the Koran requires that infidels be converted or killed. Period. Of course, the apostate Muslims don't agree with the fundamentalists, but that's another subject.

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and killed Americans. I assume even before the year was over, that would be before the month of December, 1941 was over, Congress enacted what is known as "The Alien Registration Act of 1941."

That Act required that every alien within the United States be registered. Forms were distributed to government offices such as Post Offices so aliens could pick up the form and register as required by law. Even those holding "green cards" were required to register so that their current address could be updated. Any alien who did not register was in violation of the Alien Registration Act of 1941. Congress didn't offer them a reward so they would "come out of the shadows." The law simply required that every alien register. Many went home. Others registered. The end result was that the United States knew who was in the country. The alien's choice was to either register or go home. At that time the Federal Government did its job, and there was no controversy.

So, why can't we do that again without offering a reward to those here illegally? Why was the Alien Registration Act of 1941 abandoned? Or, is it still in effect?

Why doesn't our do-nothing, weak kneed Congress enact another Alien Registration Act that would satisfy the "need" to know who is here so our nation will be more secure without offering a reward for being here illegally?

Don't we have legislators, even a President, as bright as those holding office at the start of America's entering World War II?

Could it be that those legislators, (certainly not Bush) are bright enough to enact such legislation, but are trying to convince the American public that we have no choice but to accept an amnesty?

I, for one, will not vote for any politician who is pushing any form of amnesty by any name in any future election.
