WEB UPON WEB

The spread of technology to every home has familiarized us with the term and concept of “redundancy”: like the systems in our bodies, our technical systems require and usually have a series of back-ups, fail-safe, or self-repair mechanisms. Technical systems are far more frail and intrusive than our bodies which produce much expense and frustration as we grow more dependent on them.

Two points: our means of communication teach and encourage us to think in terms of systems and, too often, of our bodies as machines; secondly and the topic of this essay, the multi-national systems that press for regionalization and globalization are systems with many layers of redundancy built into them: economic, political, military, diplomatic, technical and geographic. The regions, associations, and policy initiatives of the World State overlay each other web upon web as an overview reminds us.

When it comes to the facets of geopolitics the world has become a series of overlays like the transparencies our biology textbooks used to show us the overlapping systems of the body. There are extensive cords binding the EU, NATO, the NAU (North American Union emerging from NAFTA), the British Commonwealth, and other regional entities like the Mediterranean Security and Prosperity Zone touted by French PM Sarkozy and Spanish diplomats like Jose Barroso, and MEFTA (Middle East Free Trade Association) which may be evolving into a “greater Middle East” via the long-running managed crisis with Iran. Space prevents speaking of EACA, CACO, ASEAN, SAARC, PARTA, EFTA, CARICOM and Mercosul whose overlying webs complete the global symphony (search Wikipedia for maps and members in these cooperative associations. They all have a flag, anthem, and currencies and armed forces present or planned). Maximal overlap of regions grows as nearby states get “associate” or “observer” status. Thus, ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian nations includes, via ASEA + 3 meetings, China, Japan and South Korea; the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) links to China, India, Australia, Russia, the EU, Canada and America.

The stated goals of these blocks include “economic growth, social progress and regional peace.” Their sincerity and success in the latter may be judged by the slaughter or jihad in East Timor within Indonesia while ASEAN (b. 1967) has its HQ in Djakarta.

While the slaughter continues, perfect entertainers croon “we are the world, we are the people” and “whole language,” death and sex ‘education’ destroy hearts and minds.

The global harp, being of human hands, cannot abide dissonant notes, that is, those who undo or damage the conditioning used in the system’s reduction of language, thought and humanity to produce homogenized persons and currencies from the global blender.

It’s like a web: pluck one thread and the entire framework vibrates in response. The sensitivity of the instrument recently appeared in the “liquidity crisis” in global markets tied to mortgage practices and also sparring between America and China. The ‘music’ is often inharmonious, the opposite of what proponents of “global solutions” tout and the ‘strings’ of discourse are coarse as well as delicate or subtle. But those who operate and fiddle with the disk drive of the World Machine do not concern themselves with effects at the perimeter. One might say more accurately that to the extent that the creed of Malthus is intrinsic to the instrument, triage at the perimeter and nodal points of the dialectic conflicts, the “disorder” upon which it is built please those who devise the new atonal system, the monody that is the negation of genuine harmony and peace.

Two examples reveal something of the manner by which the instrument plays. Joining the above-noted blocks is an incipient “African Union”; already it has its own flag, anthem, and, being designed, an armed force. In what language the anthem will be sung, by which creed it will be defined makes no difference: it too is an area for scrambling eggs and plunder. Indeed, the regions of the global orchestra may be defined by the forms of plunder that work best in each. NB: the blender is not meant to be practical (rooted in history, genuine difference) or productively manageable: it is meant to keep the managers busily engaged blending and managing human chattel in the monstrous abstractions to which they are giving geopolitical form.

To wit: currently a NATO task force, SNMG-1 (“Standing NATO Maritime Group) part of the NRF (“NATO Response Force”) is sailing around the emergent African Union or as it used to be known, “Africa.” Harold Hoffman’s reports on European media for Britannia Radio note that SNMG-1 will be putting in from Nigeria to South Africa to the horn (Somalia and Ethiopia). In the former case, corporations like BP (originally Anglo-Persian Oil) and Royal Dutch Shell want assistance dealing with raiders of their facilities. Other layers of this web are the German interest in equipping and training Nigerian and Ghanaian troops to extend their influence in Africa, for instance the artificial state of Sudan, which is rather different from the French preference to attach and protect southern Sudan to its dependency, Chad. The Task Force, demonstrating the overlap of NATO and the EU, also plans to make its presence felt near Port Sudan from which China uploads 80% of the Islamic state’s oil. Ethiopia, directly to the east is armed and directed mainly by the Anglo-American parts of this concerto.

Whither the “African Union”? Read Orwell’s 1984 and bear in mind that abstraction and deracination are essential to the functioning of the blender: the global symphony is grossly dissonant but don’t tell anyone: the Emperor’s new outfit is officially gorgeous.

The nascent African Union overlaps extensively with the Mediterranean Security and Prosperity Zone which extensively overlaps the EU, NATO, MEFTA and the Greater Middle East. The Berbers don’t much like their immersion in the Islamic sea of North Africa (search memri.org for coverage) but they’re the least of anyone’s concerns. The hinge of the “world island” as Halford Mackinder termed it is the Middle East (with the former British mandate its epicenter) and the “crisis in the region” which the western powers, led initially by Britain have done so much to ignite and sustain.

After the battalions of the Jewish Legion, their invaluable espionage arm, NILI and the Australian Light Horse enabled Allenby to beat the Turks from fall 1917-18 every Jew hater in the British Foreign Office found their way into Mandatory “Palestine.” General Louis Bols, Colonel Ronald Storrs, Col. Bertie Waters-Taylor made clear to the local Arabs that the Jews were fair game. The Arab pogroms that ensued, beginning in March 1920 had two rallying cries: “the government is with us” and that old standard, itbakh al Yahud (“slaughter the Jews”). The Gilead (“Transjordan”) was severed from the Mandate by 1922 and Jewish settlement forbidden there; the Peel Commission proposed a further partition and constriction of Jewish settlement in 1937. The UN made its partition in November 1947 and every Israeli victory since 1948 has been rolled back by the western powers with America taking the lead in diplomatic apologetics and financial-military arm-twisting. The ethnic cleansing of Jews from Judea, the accepted prerequisite for creating a “Palestinian” State is the chief goal of our foreign policy as the NSC, State Department and President have declared.

Winston Churchill severed the Gilead from the Jewish National Home; among his other accomplishments was to call for a “United States of Europe” and a “Council of Europe” in a speech in Zurich in 1946. By 1950 the European Coal and Steel Gemeinschaft was up and, with the Treaty of Rome, 1957 the Europaische Wirtschafts Gemeinschaft (EEC) first outlined by President of the Reichs Bank Walter Funk in 1942 [1]. The EU motto is Latin, its anthem German and its flag out-of-date or esoteric. The Nazis had a large hand in fulfilling British policy for an Arab Federation in the Middle East.

This same policy reveals the flimsiness of “peace and prosperity” rationales for the regionalization process leading to the World State. It also helps us identify the origin and perennial constancy of Anglo-American policy in the Middle East to this day.

In 1923 Sir Alfred Lord Milner told Parliament that the Jewish areas of the Mandate would always be productive and the Arab areas, never. History already had borne him out and the subsequent eighty-five years have added to the evidence. If the west’s Oceanic or European blocs desired productivity, prosperity and civilization in the Middle East they would long since have ordered Israel to extend and secure its victories; they have done the opposite, arming the excusing jihad to this day; for example, arming and training Hamas via Fatah. The IDF has been reduced to contract status under the Pentagon whose man on the spot the past couple of years is General Keith Dayton.

As recorded by Carroll Quigley, Milner also stated that while he believed there could be a Jewish majority area west of the Jordan River (“the Mandate as we have defined it” he said loftily), “it must never become a Jewish state.” But this was the less anti-Jewish view within the RIIA. Four years earlier, John Dove, editor of the Round Table (1921-34) in a letter quoted extensively by Quigley argued that the former Ottoman Empire should become “an Arab Federation with its front door on the Mediterranean.” The Jews could bring their labor, industry and capital but that was it [2]. The Jewish National Home, the root of the West would be “a partitioned Palestine within an Arab Federation.” The ugly history Britain’s perversion of the Mandate, paralleled in the Post War “land for peace processes” has set the bounds of international policy toward the Middle East to this day. It is the only thing the “world community” agrees on.

And so twilight comes on; great darkness and dense night covers the nations as the web of control which also is a web of lies extends its chords and overlays. The trees begin to disappear into “a pitch dark limitless grove,” a monoculture formed by flinging the ingredients, -- the customs, religions, languages, currencies, history and peoples of the world into the blender of globalization. What results is a monody of generic customs (purchasing and birth control habits) and people, interchangeable and thus useful to those who operate the systems of the machine. They play not mainly for efficiency and profit but for power and the thrill of control, the ultimate aphrodisiac, the will to be as gods. This lust is insatiable; this is its danger but also their undoing (think of Edmund, Goneril or Regan in King Lear). Since they never can be God but only try to act like Him they are never satisfied and their mix of desire and frustration exacts increasingly grave costs from the people whose lives and hopes are mortar for their pyramid…
