BEHAVIOR A NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH ISSUE?
According to Dr. Ben Joseph, a retired internal medicine physician in California, the discussion regarding homosexuals and lesbians should be centered on the issue of public health, not civil rights or discrimination:
"Homosexuality is not normal. It is a filthy and germ ridden sexual perversion. It is killing people. The health department exists to discover the sources of diseases and eradicate them. Somehow, homosexuality with all of its harmful effects has escaped scrutiny. I know the gay community is powerful and has friends in all the high places, but this is ridiculous. To introduce homosexuality to our public schools as just another normal lifestyle is appalling. It's as normal as wanting to get hit over the head with a baseball bat."
Dr. Joseph is part of a growing number of Americans concerned with the establishment of organizations like GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) and GSA (Gay Straight Alliance), who have more than 1,000 clubs on school campuses nationwide. (search).
Dr. Joseph further comments, "I wonder -- when school children are indoctrinated -- do they tell the children these sick things that homosexuals do, or the fact that Studs and AIDS and the shortening of one's life span is rampant in homosexuals? Of course, they don't tell them the truth....The Health Department will run all over the county, play detective and try to find sources of diseases. Yet, the biggest source is right in their own back yard -- homosexuals. Why are they given a free pass?"
As homosexual, lesbian, bi-sexual, transsexual and multi-sexual activist groups continue to set up clubs and push for pro homosexual curriculum in schools at all grades, parents are beginning to speak out about the health dangers associated with the sexual activities side of the argument.
Lila Neilsen is just such an outspoken mother of a 14-year old boy. Mrs. Neilsen contacted NWVs and has asked that her son's school not be named, but wants parents to know the incredible pressure being brought to bear on school campuses:
"Besides being bombarded with nothing but the promotion of sex and the homosexual lifestyle on television, kids today are constantly under peer pressure at school to have sex and lots of it. Our children are being taught it's okay to have a homosexual experience. In other words, for my son, our school district supports my son committing sodomy to find out if he's actually gay! It's crazy! What happens when a young teen has one of these perverted experiences? What is the psychological damage? What happens when that boy then goes out and has multiple female sex partners? Sexually transmitted disease statistics are going through the roof. How responsible is this on school campuses, for God's sake?"
Called "lavender diseases" by the medical community, voluminous documentation is available to the general public regarding medical problems experienced by the homosexual community. According to the Traditional Values Coalition:
"The Centers For Disease Control (CDC) reported on November 28, 2003, that AIDS infections continue to rise among homosexuals, bisexuals, Blacks, and Hispanics. TVC's report on homosexual diseases has been updated to reflect these new statistics. TVC's report, "Homosexual Behavior Fuels AIDS and STD Epidemic," has been updated to reflect new statistics just published by the CDC.
"The CDC statistics show an overall increase of 5.1% in AIDS infections in the U.S. between 1999-2002. Homosexual and bisexual infection rates have increased 17%. Blacks account for 55% of these new infections; Latinos accounted for a 25% increase. There was a 7% increase among non-homosexuals."
While GLSEN, GSA and other pro homosexual organizations have extensive web sites, none of them contain any sections regarding the serious health issues attributed to homosexual and lesbian sex.
