WHAT I MISS FROM 1984
William Hunt, M.S.

As 2010 comes to a close, I am reminded just how much I miss certain things from the pre-1984 Democrat Party.
I miss when some individual Democrat Congressmen and Senators could be trusted, were honorable, they could not be bought and you could bank on what they said.
I miss the days when the Democrats were for Democracy and Free Speech, instead of today’s “do what I say” and “you can’t have a different opinion from mine or we’ll shut you down.”
I miss those Democrats who were for law and order.
I miss those Democrats who had a sense of right and wrong.
I miss being able to respect Democrat leadership.
I miss being able to trust Democrat Congressman and Senators to do the right thing.
I miss not having to worry about what’s being done behind closed doors in the DNC.
I miss being able to believe what a Democrat politician says.
I miss when you could listen to a Democrat politician speak and not count individual lies, sometimes more than one in the same sentence.
I miss those Democrats who were for the working man, not the man who does not work.
I miss when many Democrats were for common Americans, not the superrich.
I miss the Democrat Party who was for the majority, not the party of “divide and conquer.”
I miss when most Democrat voters were honest, both with others and themselves.
I miss when the Democrats in Congress and the Senate were from all walks of life, many with great experience and competence, rather than multimillionaire lawyers.
I miss when the Democrat Party was loyal to the United States in deeds.
I miss when the Democrat Party would fight for the United States, not against it.
I miss when the Democrats built up the nation, rather than tearing it down.
I miss when Democrats did great and good things, rather than talking about them and doing the opposites.
I miss when Democrats built public works and built infrastructure (which helped everyone) to get votes instead of using entitlements and special deals for this or that group to buy votes.
I miss when the drug of choice for the average Democrat was coffee or alcohol, not marijuana, with its month-long impairment.
I miss when Democrats married and stayed married.
I miss when Democrats had a conscience.
I miss when Democrats valued fact, history and science.
I miss when Democrats respected our Nation’s founding, founders and what the Nation stands for.
I miss when some Democrat Congressmen supported the cause of conservation championed by Republicans (NWA, NEPA, CAA. CWA, ESA and so on) instead of destroying the environment with environmentalism.
I miss when there were things that Democrats just would not do to get elected, lines they would not cross.
I miss the days when most individual Democrats had an absolute standard of conduct, not a relative one, i.e., no standard.
I miss the days when the Democrat Congress and Senate would come clean when caught in wrongdoing, not cover it up or make excuses.
I miss the Democrats of the past who couldn’t even imagine of voting as the Democrats of Congress did by voting to make minorities of child-molesters with H.R. 1913 in 2009.
I miss when the Democrats of the Congress and Senate wouldn’t take bribes.
I miss when the Democrats didn’t try to control everyone else.
I miss when the Democrat Party had room for conservatives, liberals and moderates, religious, non-religious, and everyone else.
I miss when Democrats were tolerant of others.
I miss the Democrat Party when it was not lockstep socialist and hate-filled.
I miss when the Democrat Party didn’t push Eugenics.
I miss when some Democrats cared about nature and people’s environments for real, not about environmentalism that destroys everything it touches and cares nothing for people.
Heck, I miss when the Democrat Congressmen cared about people, period, not this phony “I feel your—” stuff that does no good for the sick, the poor and keeps the individual in bondage.
I miss when the Democrat Congress was honest.
I miss when a Democrat Congressman's handshake was as good as a contract.
I miss when the Democrats loved America, not our enemies.
I miss when Democrats were not International Socialists.
I miss when most Democrats were practicing Christians.
I miss when God was the Democrat’s God.

I miss when the name Jesus didn’t offend a Democrat.
I miss when He was a part of the average Democrat’s life, at home, at work, at school and in government, to one degree or another.
I remember these things and I’m Gen X.
It wasn’t that long ago.
What have the Democrats become?
