I better get my email in-box and phone lines fortified. There is only one thing more dangerous than getting in front of the “homosexual movement” and that is getting in the way of the Obama-government machine. The latter has a way of bringing deadly “accidents” into your life, while the former majors in character assassination.
But I really don't care. It is the silence of the guys on our side that have caused us to lose the culture. The anti Bible-believing-Christian mafia are experts at silencing any common sense voice that dares to question the right for an American to do whatever he damn well pleases.
Have you noticed how many forces are ganging up to silence the mouth of those of us who actually believe the Bible? The God's-laws-hating imps are everywhere in the media. They have become so effective. They have succeeded in closing the mouth of most of America's pulpits.
Let's face it, no one wants to be disliked. I certainly don't, but at the same time it is incumbent upon us to decide whether or not we will “earnestly contend for the faith” or will we roll around in the excrement of the culture.
Our dog loves to do that. We have to keep an eye on her because she loves to roll in the grass and cover herself with the perfume of the latest interloping animal who has deposited its scent in our yard.
Daisy likes to roll in it because after she does she doesn't notice the smell any longer. The only problem with that is eventually our couch begins to smell like crap. But Michele and I don't roll in the grass along with her. We throw her in the tub and wash the stink out before our house starts smelling like the world.
The church used to do that. It used to be the bathtub that Christians got washed in every week in order to knock the smell of the world off of them. But no longer...the pews are smelling more and more like goat pens because the pulpits are no longer “washing our minds with the water of the Word.”
Jesus told us they would hate us. He warned us that “all those who live Godly lives will suffer persecution.” But persecution is the last thing that we want, so we have turned off the spigot in the pulpit and now the church is so worldly and the world is so churchy it is hard to tell the difference.
One of the things that really gets my skunk...er...goat...is how much we permit those who hate the Laws of God to dictate to those of us who “Love the Law of God” the right to set the standards for how a Christian should behave. Just turn on ANY of the talking heads and you will receive all types of advice on the need for Christians to be more loving, tolerant, and non-judgmental.
Unfortunately, Christians have taken the bait. The God-haters have convinced us that the most un-Christian thing a person can do is “judge” or “hate” anything, while they judge and hate anyone who dares to raise God's laws as a standard. Truth has been reclassified as hate.
I got free from the fear of those who are pissing in the grass. As a buddy says, “Don't piss on me and tell me it is raining.” That's what is happening in America, you know. Calling the piss a “civil right” does not make it so.
Just ask Phil Robertson.
Do you know what his sin was? He spoke in “word pictures.” The homosexuals and their sycophants in the media hate word pictures.
All good communicators use word pictures. I hear often from those who read my commentaries about how much they appreciate my style. They often tell me that they love the “pictures” I paint with my words. Images in the mind are hard to forget.
That's what The Duck Commander did. He took the focus off of who homosexuals ARE and placed it on what homosexuals DO.
Anus is a word, nothing more than a body part...like a nose...toe...esophagus...or vagina. But the use of that word sent the homo-movement into a tizzie. You can call someone an a-hole, or pussy, or a hater and as gruff and as guttery those words might be those words are accepted lexicon in most of America. In fact, they have become mainstream. Where do you think the phrase “I got screwed” came from?
Christianity and God's Words have become the new pornography...the Words that are guaranteed to cause a fiery response. That's why they hate the Words...they are living...they are sharp...they are the Sword of the Spirit. Christians wielding a sword without carrying one. Go figure.
So old bayou born and bred Phil used the word “anus.” When he did that he shined the light on what homosex is all about...men and an anus. Homosex is a behavior, not an identity. Phil focused the spot light on what homosexuals DO. They want the debate to be about love, and tolerance, and hate. Phil made the debate about the anus.
Pardon the pun, but do you get the picture? Phil used quack-speech to call homosexual behavior sin. Not a civil right, but a sin. Maybe if more pastors spoke about sin Phil wouldn't look like such a hick. But that was what homo-friendly A & E was banking on. They thought they could make Christians look hickie...backwoodsie...intolerant...ignorant...which is the media stereotype they like to promote. It was a classic case of Christian-profiling by the who-are-you-to-label crowd.
But the sad thing is what most people failed to understand was Phil's statement was nothing more than a paraphrase of the Scriptures. This “Bible -thumper” (how's that for name calling) said
"Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right,"
I Corinthians 6:9-10 states: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
All Phil did is tell us what the Bible says. Sadly, most Christians failed to recognized his statement as a paraphrase of Scripture, and no one in the media did. The only Scripture most of them can quote is “judge not.” The God-haters want us to know that that snippet of incomplete Scripture is the capstone of all Christianity.
So the homosexual bullies and their acolytes in the media went after Phil Robertson because he focused the laser on behavior. It is behavior that is sin...drunkenness, slander, swindling, adultery, greed. Homosexuality is not sin, but homosexual acts are. Thinking about stealing is not sin, but stealing is. Why were the homosexuals the only sinners to get offended? Did the sex-with-animals crowd try to get him thrown off the TV? Did the drunks? Did all of America's saloons turn off Duck Dynasty? Ever heard of Alcoholics Anonymous? Don't they fight sinful behavior? Behaviors, not people, are sinful.
So says the Bible. So says Phil. Even the courts cannot change that fact.
But the larger lesson here is the power of words. Particularly words that describe behavior. Abortion is choice, not murder. Homosex is love, not sin. Pedophilia is merely “child love.” Who can be against loving children? Isn't it amazing to watch the non-judgmental homosex-movement rise up and decry pedophilia and bestiality? Some love men, some love boys. Some love Rover. Who are they to judge?
Here is the rub. More of us need to adopt the habit of speaking honestly in the manner Phil Robertson has modeled. But let me caution you...straight talking is not appreciated...especially in Christian circles. Phil's statements were widely condemned by many for being “coarse”, “harsh”, and “inappropriate.” That's how far we have fallen. In today’s world, and churches, describing behavior is far more offense than the actual behavior. Showing aborted baby pictures is worse than abortion. Speaking of an “anus” is worse than male on male anal sex.
Phil's message was missed in the whole debacle. The Gospel is for sinners. It is for “Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and (my favorite sin) such like.” Gal.5:21.
Oh yeah...the such likes. I am so guilty of so many “such like” sins. But that is why Jesus came...to deliver all of us from sin. Denying our behavior is sinful is the only sin the Lord cannot forgive.
Phil Robertson is a forgiven sinner. That is the message he tried to share. In fact The Scripture declares...and Phil agrees ... “And Such WERE some of you.” Phil WAS a sinner...now he is a forgiven one. God's grace is available to all.

I listened to another interview that Phil had done. What he said was profound. “Until you love the sinner more than you fear them you will never be able to reach them.”
Truth sounds like hate...
I pray that God would raise up pastors with the boldness of Phil Robertson. Pastors who love sinners more than they fear them. Pastors who love God more than they love comfort. Pastors who love truth more than they love their jobs.
One word can paint a picture. A picture is worth a thousand words.
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine” 2 Timothy 4:2.
Birds fly. Dogs bark. Sinners sin.
