Negroponte’s deputy at the office of Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Lonnie Henley, weighed in to get a sentence against a US spy for China reduced.

The spy is Ronald Montaperto, a former Pentagon (DIA) analyst who admitted to the FBI of passing highly classified intelligence to two Chinese military officers. Montaperto was sentenced to three months in prison (confined to stay at home house arrest)—far shy of four to five years called for in sentencing guidelines. Federal Judge Gerald Bruce Lee said that despite the "very serious charge" against Ronald Montaperto, he was swayed to reduce the sentence based on letters of support from current intelligence officials including Negroponte’s Deputy, Lonnie Henley.

U.S. officials said a major U.S. electronic eavesdropping operation against China went silent around the time Montaperto admitted passing the highly classified data to the Chinese in 1988.

Lonnie Henley is currently the deputy national intelligence officer for East Asia in the office of Director of National Intelligence John D. Negroponte. Mr. Henley said he has been "close friends" with Montaperto since the 1980s.

Officials said that Negroponte’s ombudsman for analysis in the DNI office, Nancy Tucker had dated Montaperto.

Lonnie Henley sent a two-page e-mail to several hundred current and former U.S. intelligence and policy officials criticizing the FBI investigation of Montaperto and defending the former DIA analyst

Because Mr. Henley works directly for Mr. Negroponte as part of the National Intelligence Council, and FBI counterintelligence also is nominally part of the DNI [Negroponte] oversight, U.S. government officials say the Henley e-mail could be viewed as an officially sanctioned critique of the FBI and thus an appropriate subject for internal review and possible disciplinary action.

Anyone who thinks there are not other conservative Americans concerned about Negroponte’s sympathies for Communist China should think again and consult with Rep. Peter Hoekstra, chairman of the House intelligence committee.

Hoeskstra has said he is concerned by the apparent support for Montaperto from the U.S. intelligence community and promised a committee probe.

"You would think that the intel community [Negroponte and DNI] would set the standard for holding people accountable for mishandling and passing of classified information to our enemies," Mr. Hoekstra said.

The situation with Lonnie Henley and Nancy Tucker in Negroponte’s office is yet another in a growing list of alarming examples of Negroponte’s pro Communist China policies. China is the world’s leading backer of terrorist nations like Iran and North Korea, and the leading backer of Islamic terrorist groups like Hezbollah and AlQaeda. See Negroponte & Rohrabacher Betray America to Islamic Terror Backers

Negroponte was involved with the Director of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, in making the decision to award the Chinese Communists the US contract to monitor US shipping containers at US ports for nuclear materials and to have the terrorist nation, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), run major US port facilities. It was the UAE that Negroponte associate Adnan Khasoggi used to funnel monies to the 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta.

Negroponte as a member of a global Greek shipping family has long been involved in global trade by land and sea with the Communist Chinese. Negroponte headed up the task force from 1996-1997 that negotiated transfer of Panama Canal for Chinese takeover by Hutchinson Whampoa. COSCO, the Communist Chinese sea and land shipping company is already operating at US ports and interstate highways thanks to the efforts of Negroponte. Negroponte has overseen negotiations and is helping direct implementation of the North American Union, (NAU), the NAU super highway, FFTA, CAFTA, and NAFTA starting when he was ambassador to Mexico 1989-1993 and the lead US negotiator for the NAFTA sellout.

Negroponte was in on the decision to have the FBI and other US intelligence and law enforcement agencies to stand down earlier this year rather than go after Communist Chinese and North Korean agents operating and committing violence against US citizens INSIDE the US. At least eight people in three major US cities were beaten in their homes and had their computer equipment and software stolen by North Korean and Chinese agents in February 2006. See Terror in America, Made in China

Negroponte was in on the recent decision to not have the Pentagon inform the public about the Chinese military shooting disabling laser bursts at US satellites. See ChinaAttempted To Blind U.S. Satellites With Laser. The reason given to not tell the public was a concern that the disclosure would harm the use of Communist China as a US partner in the war on terror and in nuclear negotiations with North Korea and Iran. This reason is disingenuous, preposterous and absurd because China is openly backing Iran and North Korea with nuclear and ballistic missile technology and also using 3000 espionage agents in the US to steal US nuclear and missile secrets.

Negroponte’s and Bush’s war on terrorism that does not go after KNOWN Islamic terrorists and Chinese and North Korean agents inside the US is a phony war that is destined to fail.
