A friend sent me a funny story about two young rambunctious boys whose single mother was having problems controlling them. There was a church nearby so she asked the pastor if he’d talk to the boys. He consented but he said he wanted to talk to them separately. He took the oldest one first and he would ask the young man “Where is God?” And after being asked that question a few times, he darted out of the pastor’s office, ran home breathlessly into his younger brother’s bedroom exclaiming, “We’re really in trouble this time, God is missing.” Yes, fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge says Proverbs 1:7 and I would recommend people read one chapter of Proverb a day. There are 31. Much wisdom can be gained from them.
WE ARE LIVING IN EVIL TIMES
Talk show host Michael Savage, banned in the United Kingdom and labeled as a terrorist and a danger to British citizens has been asking the same question “Where is God” when four skeletons had been found in shallow graves in the Southern California desert. They are believed to be those of a San Diego County family that vanished three years ago. Another is the latest where three young women were kidnapped in the U.S and held for ten years in the sociopath’s home. He killed himself in prison. Cassandra Vinograd in an AP 11/23/13 article – dateline London- tells about three more women that had been held for 30 years – more victims of this new thing called “slavery.”
Now I hear Charlie Manson is getting married to Star, whose name was given to her by Manson. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri and 54 years younger than the cult leader. She seems serious about the marriage but he says “We’re just playing that for public consumption.”
The 1973 book Satan on the Loose describes how Charlie got started. In 1971 Charles Manson and three of his girls (he called them witches) were convicted of the brutal murders of seven persons including the pregnant Sharon Tate, the actress whose husband, Roman Polanski, had directed the occult movie Rosemary’s Baby. Manson’s family grew often living on the credit cards new members brought with them. Some children of famous Hollywood personalities attached themselves to the group now and then.
A guest on the 9/13/2009 Larry King show was a lady named Linda. She appeared with her attorney and was involved with Manson. It was group “sex.” She was the only one with a driver’s license. They used to “rob” homes at night. She didn’t know they were going to “kill”. She thought Manson was “Jesus” and that she had to follow orders. She ended up as a star witness against him. He was originally given the death sentence but spared execution after the California Supreme Court declared capital punishment unconstitutional. In Oregon, we have a prisoner, ready and willing to die but our pro-choice Democrat Governor Kitzhaber, with a live-in girlfriend, has been wasting tax dollars to keep him alive on similar grounds.
And now we have the “Knockout” game by gangs of black young people that targets primarily white people. Several have died. FOX news has been reporting on this. No mention of this being a “hate” crime but one report mentioned it could be “Pay back for Travon Martin” and the acquittal of George Zimmerman.
Many years ago a friend gave me a little book first published in 1945 called, “The Negroes in a Soviet America.” Booker T. Washington thought that capitalism would permit the Negro to develop business and manufacturing, and increase his ownership of land and that “Agitation for social equality would be extreme folly.” But then the authors of this book James W. Ford and James S. Allen debunked that idea claiming it was Caucasian capitalism that kept so many on the plantations. The Anti-Discrimination bills, they said, were generous and a timely effort that would bring contentment to all the people.
But there is impressive evidence that they were, instead, merely one more attempt of the Communists to stir up trouble, they said. In addition, they claimed the 13th, 14th & 15th Amendments to the constitution were only decorations. While some got off the plantation and became entrepreneurs themselves, they would look to their fellow Negro folks for slave labor just like the Caucasians. Psalm 53:3 says: Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy, there is none that doeth good, no, not one. The heart of man is evil. The authors wrote how events were pushing towards another revolution in the United States and what role the Negro people would play in this revolution.
In numerous publications, W.E.B DuBois has long been identified as a member of the Communist Party and in the book published by Hillsdale College, Dinesh D’Souza told how Booker responded to W.E.B BuBois claims of the disadvantaged blacks.
REPEALINGTHE BLUE LAWS TO BLAME
The Supreme Court found “Blue Laws” to be constitutional and simply stated said no business was to be transacted on Sundays. As I listened to Savage, it came to my mind perhaps the problems really began when the Blue Laws were relaxed in the interest of materialism, narcissism (Phil. 3:18-19) and “me-ism” and the revenue produced by business on Sunday. It stood to reason if the businesses weren’t open, maybe the people would be more apt to direct their attention to the church on Sundays in a spirit of gratitude but instead its sports events all weekends, skiing, Mall shopping, etc.
In a 1969 Pediatric Conference in New York City it was predicted by one speaker that the Blue Laws would be repealed while the gambling laws would be relaxed and then came the Indian Casinos and now it’s On- Line Gambling.
GOVERNMENT GRANT MONEY ENCOURAGES EVIL
Today it is even worse. What started out as “medical marijuana” is now being legalized for recreational use just like alcohol. What started out as sex education has become full blown to anything goes. What started out as an allowable abortion in the first trimester is now legal up until a few minutes before the birth.
A copy of a Department of Education grant check that I have was for 1979-198 in the amount of $1,152,624.00 payable to “Planned Parenthood, Feminist Press and NOW Legal Defense/Education” fund. Another is for the Grant date of 1980-81 from the Department of Labor for $640,000 payable to the “Gay and Lesbian Community Services Center” and another for a 1979-80 grant from the Department of Health & Human Services for $186,140.00 payable to “New Ways Ministry & Center for Homosexual Evaluation and Research.”
And if that isn’t bad enough, corporation and foundations contribute huge amounts to liberal groups. University of Texas professor, Marvin Olasky, said in his book, Patterns of Corporate Philanthropy, To the extent businessmen do give, they give to all the wrong people – meaning those who have little use for free enterprise and capitalism. Conservative groups get little or nothing from the top 25 corporations/foundations while the feminists, in 1985, received $472,000. Why have companies and their executives turned against conservative programs when many of them were founded by strong conservative or religious people? May I suggest, while the sheep slept the wolves infiltrated.
After my article “Judgment Begins in the House of God,” a respondent wrote with copious notes he took at Jim Bakker’s Testimony on June 29, 1997 Harvest Rock Church at the William Carey University, Pasadena California One comment Jim made jumped off the page at me. Jim had lost his material goods, his ministry, his reputation, his homes and his cars. On top of all other losses, the lawyers and IRS took his retirement fund. Now he sat in prison wondering why? He began by admitting, “Before prison I took less and less time for the Word of God” and he knew then he needed to take one day off a week and be alone with God. Both Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart have been restored and now have new Christian ministries.
According to a 1988 Gallup Poll, more U.S. citizens believe in Jesus Christ, but a smaller percentage belong to churches. However, scripture says the Devil believes and trembles. The nationwide poll, called The Unchurched American, indicated that 84 percent of those surveyed believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, compared with 78 percent in a 1978 Gallup Poll. Forty-four percent of respondents were not church members or had not attended regular services in six months, compared with 40 percentage 10 years ago. The poll was conducted by the Gallup Organization of Princeton, N.J. The organization’s co-chairman, George Gallup, said 2,556 adults were interviewed.
An article by William Bole in an October 19, 1994 Christian Newsletter entitled “Demise of Blue Laws Invokes Memories of Simpler Times tells how only a handful of statewide Blue Laws have survived in the age of malls and mega-stores. Some 350 years ago, the Puritans who settled in Massachusetts Bay colony declared Sunday a day of rest and contemplation for all. The settlers etched their decrees on Blue Paper and the statutes became known as the Blue Laws which brought silence to the market place every Sunday for generations in America .
Many are bidding a jubilant farewell to these late vestiges of Puritanical restraint. Others, however, feel a loss of things symbolized by Sunday Blue Laws – the communal rhythms that called for a change of pace one day a week, a respite from buying and selling. “It’s a profound loss,” said Harvard University economist Juliet Schor, author of “The Overworked Americans” (Basic Books). America is more frenzied and harried society than it was 20 to 25 years ago.” Thus we see an increase in antidepressant drugs being purchased. Or go to www.ssristories.com
The fading Blue Laws have prompted soul-searching often seem crowded out by shopping, chores and weekend shifts at work. .. Some cities and counties decided to keep their Sunday closing laws or pass new ones, merely for the sake of peace and quiet but the Blue Laws had been lost in a sea of exceptions. (Sounds like Obamacare.) In the summer of 1994, the British parliament gave a green light to Sunday store openings, abolishing a few first enacted by King Atheistan in the year 924. The article said America is not far behind.
THE WAR IS ALL BUT OVER
Paul Belien, editor of the Brussels Journal and adjunct fellow of the Hudson Institute, outlines the fall of Western Europe for the forces of secularism and socialism in an article entitled “Europe’s Culture War: Secularism on the March” (Washington Times, May 23, 2007.) His analysis is so compelling for the Christian community we need to quote a little from his article:
“Europe is in the middle of a three-way culture war, between the defenders of traditional Judeo-Christian morality, the proponents of secular hedonism, and the forces of Islamic Jihadism. In Western Europe, the fight between Christians and secularists is all but over. The secularists have won. Now the religious vacuum left by the demise of Christianity is being filled by the Muslims. Since one cannot fight something with nothing, the Europeans secularists are no match for Islam.”

Then he said, “Meanwhile the dark forces of secularism, such as the European Union (EU) are waging war in Central and Eastern Europe, where they target countries such as Poland, Slovakia, and the Baltic states. “On April 25, 12007, the European Parliament (EP), the EU’s legislature, adopted a resolution condemning “homophobia.” With 325 votes against 124, and 150 abstentions, the EP warned Poland that it will face sanctions if it adopts a law barring the promotion of homosexuality in its schools. Churches, too, were reprimanded for ‘fermenting hatred and violence (against homosexuals.)’ And once again, America is not far behind. And to answer the question, “Where Is God,” He’s in the same place where He was when evil men put His son on the cross patiently waiting for repentance.
