RIGGING THE SCALES OF JUSTICE

Members of the Republican Party must get as thoroughly confused as I do with this split between the old-guard RINOs and the new crop of libertarian/Constitutionalists but I am glad they seem to be uniting at the 11th hour before the government shutdown. Freshman Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Ky), who scored 100 percent in The New American’s first “Freedom Index” for the current Congress, would like to have more allies in his quest to abolish, rather than merely trim, numerous federal agencies. He said, “There are a bunch of zombies here. Most of them come (to Congress) with the purest of intentions, but they just get bitten… (maybe at the Bohemian Grove) I don’t know whether to hug ‘em or hit ‘em with a baseball bat.

Congressman Jim Cooper (D-Tn) with a 2013 Constitutional voting record of 20% says “Today (2011), the ignorance around here is staggering. Nobody has an idea what they are voting for.” Congressman Cooper may have overstated the amount of ignorance in Congress, but probably not by much as we have watched the current debate over the Continued Resolution whether the government will shut down or some compromise may be reached to keep thousands of federal government paper pushers on the job in these U.N unconstitutional regionalism administrative agencies.

As I draft this article, Obamacare is in the limelight. Congress has a few more days before the October 1st shut down of our government to determine what they are going to do. A recent “rant” in my newspaper said, “Well, here we go again. Another proposed government ‘shut down.’ They want all non-essential employees furloughed.” Then he asks, “Why isn’t Congress included?” I believe we’ve had non-essential employees furloughed before and we didn’t miss them.

WE MAKE UP RULES

Once impeached and removed from office as a federal judge, Rep. Alcee Hatings (D-Fla) with a 20% Constitutional voting record in July 2013 later won election to the U.S. House of Representatives. He said, “There ain’t no rules here. We’re trying to accomplish something. All this talk about rules but when the deal goes down, we make ‘em up as we go along.” This Congressman, like so many others has complete disdain for our Constitution.

Congress holds the key to the pocket book. It can refuse to appropriate money for these agencies one at a time as well for impeachment of President Barack Obama who has with waivers changed the Affordable Care Act. Changes to a bill can only be changed by Congress. Passage of this 2000+ page bill was foolish to ever pass because no one read it which leaves we, the American people, to ask, who was behind this bill? Remember Hillary Clinton and her try at universal health care? Did Obama simply take it off a dusty shelf and try again?

RIGGING THE SCALES OF JUSTICE

In 2000, U.S. House of Representative, Bob Barr (R-Ga) indicated in a Florida Forum newspaper article that the greatest failure of Congress in recent years had been the failure to conduct effective, consistent and aggressive oversight of the executive branch generally and the Department of Justice specifically. Readers will recall how Attorney General, Janet Reno and President Bill Clinton, in defiance of the Posse Comitatus Act sent the military to Waco, Texas that ended up burning down the Branch Davidian killing 17 little children. Even after our Government Reform committee passed a resolution holding Reno in contempt, lacking courage Congress chose to live with her decision. This failure told every official who would withhold information or lie to Congress that there would be no consequences for doing so. In this environment, Congressman Barr said, it is not at all surprising that federal law enforcement officials have blatantly and continually lied to Congress on Waco and more recently Obama’s “Fast and Furious” gun running and Benghazi. Gutless Congress lacks accountability.

A NEW CROP OF REPUBLICANS

And then in 2010 we get a new crop of what appears to be a handful of Congress people who believe in our Constitutional Republic. One of them being Congressman Rand Paul (R-KY), whose epic almost 13-hour filibuster addressed both foreign and domestic issues aggressively and unapologetically blaming both the Democrats and also those within his own party who seem far too often willing to sacrifice guaranteed liberty for theoretical safety.

Most recently Senator Ted Cruz spent 21 hours on the Senate floor trying to call to the attention of American people the dangers of Obamacare. It is unimaginable that Congress could be so derelict in its duty and does nothing but condone the arrogance of the Feds in its refusal to tell the American people where trillions has gone. And then Senator John McCain attacks these members of his own party.

Prominent Senator Max Baucus (D-Mont) with an unusually high Constitutional score of 40% in the July 22, 2013 Freedom Index, admitted he hadn’t read the bill before voting for it. And now he decided this year to retire because he sees the Obamacare as a train wreck coming down and he was an architect of it. They don’t die – they retire with a big pension and many perks.

MUGGING OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN

Way back in 1985 we were warned by Co-chairman Hastings Keith of the National Committee on Public Employee Pension systems that, “the greatest travesty of the whole situation is that we don’t have the money for these Federal Pensions. We have to borrow it. The federal pension systems for civil service and the military at that time were running $540 billion and $690 billion, respectively, in unfunded liabilities and those liabilities were increasing at about $50 billion per year, largely as a result of COLA (Cost of living) increases. “We just can’t keep this up. The country will go bankrupt. We’re mugging our children and our grandchildren. “The members of Congress are currently part of the civil service retirement system. They’re bleeding it. They are its biggest abusers,” said Keith. Then Keith cites himself as an example.

When he retired from Congress in 1973, he was earning an annual salary of $42,500. Yet by 1985, his annual pension totaled more than $48,000. (Today it’s $174,000) In addition, he received a military pension of nearly $13,000 a year and a maximum Social Security payment. Altogether, Keith and his wife (who retired from the Civil Service in the mid 1970s received a combined annual federal pension totaling more than $84,000, almost doubled what he received as a Congressman. And then we have lies, distortions, half-truths and fraud in our state public retirement systems.

And have you heard the latest? Peter Kasperowica from “the Hill” tells about Section 134 in the Continuing Resolution to keep the country running and the amount of $174,000 to Senator Frank R. Lautenberg’s wife, Bonnie Englebardt Lautenberg. He was 89 and a millionaire but apparently it’s a standing rule when one of them dies, it is typical for the “mutual admiration society” to pay out a “death penalty” to surviving family members in an amount equal to the salary of the deceased at the time of death. A July 2012 Freedom Index in the New American showed this New Jersey Democrat with the usual 10% grade which is about par for most Democrats with only a rare exception but never will we find a Democrat with a 100% Constitutional voting record. Only in government is mediocrity rewarded with taxpayer dollars. This benevolence reminds me of the tale of Davy Crockett when the old Tennessee bear hunter met up with a constituent and the Constitution of the U. S.

Before becoming president in 1881, James A. Garfield wrote on the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence the following insightful and prophetic message:

“Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerated ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature. If the next centennial (1976) does not find us a great nation…it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation did not aid in controlling the political forces.”

With people today tolerating ignorance, recklessness, corruption and immorality in government is because the people themselves are ignorant and becoming more and more immoral after years of being indoctrinated in the public school system and the colleges with far too many Marxists professors brainwashing them. I’m sure Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Ky) would agree one of the first agencies to be eliminated would be the Department of Education created on May 4, 1980 under Democrat President Jimmy Carter –several months before President Ronald Reagan was elected President and who promised to eliminate it, which he didn’t. The public schools began teaching “values clarification” that included among other dangerous ideas, the Lifeboat Game game that was a precursor to Obamacare where “death panels” will determine the future of people approaching 70 and over and very possibly why so many young people today are bullying and killing others and committing suicide

Another program that should be eliminated is the Environmental Protection Agency which is responsible for the 19 firefighters who perished a few months ago. They were sent to fight a fire that would never have happened had proper forest management been applied which would have prevented the fires. A few weeks ago we had some young environmental terrorists in disguise taking a tour of Oregon State Capitol. With all the paraphernalia they had in their backpacks, I can’t help wonder if it wasn’t an insider ploy. Four of them slipped away from the crowd when they were at the very top beneath the golden pioneer. In their backpacks they had ropes which, with the help of the two above, allowed them to shimmy down the outside with the ease of window washers to display their big banner protesting the cutting of trees in our national forests.

If any of you have ever seen a map of how much forest land the Federal Government has in Oregon and other Pacific Coast states, you would understand why the 22 timber mills we once had in Oregon are no longer in existence and thousands of people have been thrown out of work for the past 20-30 years. It started out with the “spotted owl” protection. The nuts hanging from the Capitol call it “free speech.” Oh yes, they were arrested but they’ll be back protesting another day. Investigating reporting at the local paper is nil about the backgrounds of these environmentalist wackos. While they called it “free speech,” a father in a School Board meeting in the same time frame wanting to have answers to this new thing called “Common Core” was arrested and taken away in handcuffs to jail.

PELOSI THINKS CONGRESS IS DIGNIFIED

Dick Morris in his 2007 book Outrage said in 2006, the House worked only 103 days in official session. That was less than two days a week. Pelosi had promised change and then she gave House members Monday, January 8 off so they could watch the collegiate national championship football game! In February 2013 she said she didn’t think Congress should get a pay cut as part of this Sequestration Process because it would undermine the dignity of the job. You heard awhile back about the Hostess Bakery plant shutting down due to a workers’ strike? It was split up. The state Department hired all the Twinkies, the Secret Service hire all the HoHos, the generals are sleeping with the Cupcakes and the voters sent all the Ding Dongs to Congress.

NO LONGER A CONSTITUTIONAL CONGRESS

Face it folks, our government is almost completely overthrown. Before dying at age 61 after three years of battling breast cancer, Joan Veon with her journalist’s credentials used to travel to the United Nations meetings and she said world government isn’t coming, it’s here and we are being reduced to Third World Status where there will be only the rich and the poor and she said America was moving towards feudalism. The Middle Class, the strength of any sovereign nation, is disappearing due to the Federal Reserve manipulating the money supply and printing money out of hot air which causes inflation.
